Walter Reed Army Institute of Research hosts a delegation of scientists from Saudi Arabia

The Commander of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, COL Ralph Erickson, hosted a delegation of scientists from Saudi Arabia on September 21, 2011 representing the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Health, as well as a representative from the Department of State. The purpose of this trip was to visit laboratories and discuss issues applicable to Saudi Arabian public health and infectious disease research.

The delegation spent the day visiting with prominent scientists from the Center for Military Infectious Diseases Research to include the Military Malaria Research Program, Bacterial Diseases Branch, Viral Diseases Branch, Entomology Branch, and the Pilot Bioproduction Facility. Key contacts were made as well as discussions regarding collaborative opportunities through cooperative research and development to characterize disease threats.
